Séverine (Sev) Van slambrouck, PhD
Dr. Van slambrouck is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at South Dakota State University. She received her Pharmacy degree from Ghent University (Belgium) and her PhD in Chemistry from New Mexico Tech (NM, USA). Prior to joining SDSU, she worked for three years as an assistant professor of Chemistry at St. Thomas University in Florida, five years as a research associate professor at New Mexico Tech, and obtained a fellowship from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to spend several months visiting the Structural and Functional Glycobiology Unit of the University of Sciences and Technology in Lille (France). She started her research training in the Laboratory of Experimental Cancer Research at the Medical School of Ghent University in 1999, a lab that pioneered in the 90’s with their contributions to the E-cadherin/catenin complex. She has published almost 30 peer-reviewed research papers, many of them involving undergraduate students and received a research award for an outstanding achievement at the 21st World Congress on Advances in Oncology in 2016.
