Dr. Smith’s work focuses on the development and application of advanced optical imaging methods for imaging on the nano-scale. Examples include the characterization of the ultrafast carrier dynamics in quantum nano-structures for solar energy applications and the use of single molecule imaging methods to characterize biophysical processes.
